  The fifth annual Global Maritime Issues Monitor reveals that senior maritime decision-makers believe the maritime industry will be most impacted by the decarbonization of shipping and new environmental regulations in the next decade. At the same time, geopolitical issues and workforce and skill shortages rise in prominence as an area of concern. "The maritime industry has a long history of facing disruptions and uncertainty. The industry's relative preparedness in the face of recent events can likely be linked to its long-standing experience and ability to react to route disruptions and changes in the geopolitical environment, though issues relating to supply chain security continue to be a concern"

  A co-operation agreement between The Ashdod Port Company and Port of Barcelona aims to promote Israeli innovation in Eruope. Under the agreement, Israeli start-ups from Port of Ashdod's incubator that successfully complete a pilot programme at the port of Ashdod will be able to conduct a pilot programme at the port of Barcelona. "The srart-ups will benefit from field conditions in which they can implement their developments, will be a ccompanied by an innovation agent acting on behalf of the port, alongside the expansion of business and technological opportunities in the Port of Barcelona, one of the largest ports in Europe," said Ashdodo Port Company.
  While Irish businesses have long thrived in key Canadian cities such as Toronto and Montreal, innovative Irish exporters are increasingly extending their reach in this market. Calgary and Vancouver are now of interest to many, while Irish ocean-tech businesses in particular are making waves in Atlantic Canada, the coastal region in corporating Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and other provinces. In fact, cybersecurity is a key focus of this week's inaugural Ireland Canada Cybersecurity Summit in Toronto on Tuesday, which is being run in collaboration with deloitte Canada's Trade and Investment team.
  Despite continued long-term positive safety trend in the global shipping industry over the past year, cyber threats remains a challenge for the sector, analysts at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty(AGCS)have said. The commercial insurer's lastest analysis of shipping losses and accidents worldwide for 2022 released Monday revealed that the global shipping industry recorded 54 losses of vessels, compared with 65 a year earlier. This represents a 57 percent decline over 10 years, at 127 in 2012; shile during the early 1990s the global fleet was losing 200+ vessels a year.
  Last year, Iran International published a facial composite of Salarvand that was obtained from Lab-Doukhtegan(Sealed Lips) hacktivist group, and the new photo _ released for the first time by an account called '3ackd0or' on Tuesday _ corroborated his identity. He is the head of the 'Intelligence Group 13,' which is apparently a sub-group within the Shahid Kaveh unit, headed by an IRGC cyber warfare comnmander, Hamidreza Lashkarian(Lashgarian) Salarvand's team was in charge of preparing a database of targets for cyberattacks, including cargo ships, gas stations and maritime control center in the US and elsewhere.
